The Residential Arts Centre in Wigry was founded to conduct culture-development, scientific and educational activities. It deals with popularisation and promotion of heritage of various domains of culture, organization of artistic events and cultural education. Our priority is to provide public with culture and science and to secure suitable conditions for the work of artists and intellectualists.

Under the scheme of the hitherto activity, the centre has identified and focused on the following three basic programme areas: artistic creativity, education and tourism. A special position in the programme activities, due to the local environment of unique traditional culture, is held by the issues related to investigation and protection of the cultural heritage.

Through implementation of all the programmes, the Residential Arts Centre in Wigry is trying to combine two values: high quality (artistic, cultural) of these programmes and their social function - education, promotion, understanding of their social sense.

Under the scheme of its statutory activities, the Residential Arts Centre in Wigry is conducting exhibition activity: Art Gallery, Photography Gallery, publication activity, organization of various events in the realm of music, theatre, poetry, folklore culture. We also organize symposia and conferences regarding art, culture and tradition. The Rtial Arts Centre organizes approximately 100 cultural events a year, with audience totalling approximately 60,000 participants.
